Levelling the Doors

Having the doors just right is important since it will ensure that the doors close properly.

From the front to the back, there should be a 1/4 inch difference in levelness (higher in the front)... Adjust by the two adjuster foot pegs (front on floor).

Use a 1/4" socket and a ratchet to turn the adjuster foot pegs screws until the tops of the french doors are even with each other.

In order to get the doors to stay open and not close on their own, you need to ensure the fridge is level front to back and right to left.

To adjust the doors:

Problems

Door Closure

With the fridge level, the door flap can sometimes fail to catch. To address this, I added a spacer between the catch(bearing block) and the cabinet which brings the catch down slightly.

Round 2

It Happened Again

Current Thought

I think the temp was getting too cold in the fridge compartment causing the damper to freeze closed. Temperature displayed on fridge was 3F higher than actual. Setting the temp to 38F was equivalent to 35F(1.6C). Fridge was probably dipping below zero from time to time.

Fridge temperature was calibrated and set at 5C. We shall see if it happens again.

Few Days Later

Seems to be working fine at 5C. Graphing the temperature seems to show a fluctuation between 3.2 - 5C. Averaging at 3.8C.

The perfect temperature to keep your food fresher for longer, and avoid ice, is 37F or 2.8C.

Reducing temp to 3C.

Round 3

So, it stopped working again. Temperature too low?

Current Thoughts

I think the damper is freezing closed or the damper motor is flakey.

Increased temp to 5C.

After watching the YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EZnLvuCN9o, I can say that our motor is noisy....

Should probably replace it.

I've ordered a replacement.

While waiting for the new damper motor assembly, I ended up removing the damper and cutting off about 5mm of the foam from the bottom of the door.

Worked fine until the replacement arrived (about 4 days with temp set at 5C)

Replaced part and set temperature down to 3C. Wait and see.....
