The sockets on this light seem to stop working after a while causing intermitent performance (On today/Off the next).

Replacing them is a bit of work.

Wiring

These sockets use a push in wire connector.

Removing the wire from the socket requires you to twist the wire until it comes out.

Compensating for Different Size Sockets

The original sockets are roughly 20mm in diameter but I couldn't find these online so I ended up with 10mm diameter sockets.

I added a 3/4" metal spacer behind the socket ring in order to hold the glass shade.

Installation Procedure

  • Turn off switch
  • Remove shade
  • Unscrew base screw
  • Attempt to pull wire to get some slack.  If no slack is available, you will need to remove the wire cover to help the wires along.
  • Remove wires from socket by twisting the wire.
  • Remove base from spindle if the base is a different size. (this is our case)
  • Remove base from new socket and screw onto spindle.
  • Push wires into new socket.
  • Screw in base screws
  • Attach shade by adding a metal spacer/washer in front of the socket ring.
  • Tighten socket ring using a specialized tool or a set of long nose pliers.
  • Turn on switch to see the light!
