Should probably replace it.
I've ordered a replacement. While waiting for the new damper motor assembly, I ended up removing the damper and cutting off about 5mm of the foam from the bottom of the door. So far so good.
Damper Repair
Remove cover by pushing up taps from the bottom and then slide cover down.
