Why?
The battery kept shutting off a lot. Seemed to be happening when pulling a large amount of current. Must be a battery/bms issue.
Testing the cells showed that they were within spec.

When disassembling the battery, I noticed a wire with exposed copper. I assumed I hit it with the razor blade when taking it apart but it may have pre-existed.
Ordered a new Smart BMS with Bluetooth which might help diagnose future issues. See Bluetooth BMS.
