Looks like we have a small leak in the y-connector of our sewer stack just before it goes into the basement floor.
In the past, I simply added glue to where the leak was.
This is a 4x4x3 ABS 45 Degree Wye with a 4" clean out.
Possible Fixes
- Plastic welding and addition of additional melted ABS.
- Remove everything and redo... Uhhhg
- ABS bandaid - glue new piece of ABS over crack.
What I Should Do
Add a riser clamp to support the pipe. This is probably why it cracked in the first place.
AI suggested the following:
Patch the pipe using ABS glue and fibreglass.
Steps:
Dry completely
No moisture at all (fan + time)
V-groove the crack
Use a Dremel or file to open the crack slightly
This gives cement something to bite into
Flood with ABS cement
Work it into the groove
Wrap tightly with fiberglass
Fiberglass mesh or cloth (not tape)
Wrap around the heel and as much of the branch as possible
Saturate the wrap with ABS cement
Multiple coats
Cure 24–48 hours
What I Did
I started by grinding off the old glue and scuffing up the joint with some sandpaper. I then applied some epoxy putty. (JB Weld - Water Weld Epoxy Putty).

UPDATE: THIS DID NOT WORK!
I added a hanger to possibly help with stress on the joint. Not my best work... We shall see what the future holds.
Second Attempt
In this attempt, I am going to use part of the wye connector as a coupler to allow me to rebuild without having to break the concrete.
I cut the base of the wye above the cuff and drilled it out using a reamer/socket saver.

This allows me to use the cuff of the wye as a coupler. No breaking the concrete.
This seemed to work although the drilled out remains of the wye were a bit loose around the 4" pipe. Extra glue was added around the pipe and I gave it a while to cure.
