Overview
My service provider uses PPoE with it's internet offering.
To use your own router you will need to contact your provider and ask for your PPoE details.
Distributel makes some of this information available in their ecare portal https://ecare.distributel.ca under Account Information.
Configuration
I received the following requirements from my service provider:

Fresh Tomato Setup
If you wish to use your own router running Fresh Tomato you will need to configure the following:
- Set the WAN Type to PPoE
- Specify your username and password.
- Set your WAN to use a VLan Id = 40 and enable Tagging
