Bypassing the Thermostat

The thermostat is reponsible for calling for heat and colling when the temperature gets to high or too low. To do this, it closes relays in the thermostat. All wiring is 24vac.

From the thermostat wiring above, if you wanted to test the AC, you would jumper Y1(Cool) with Rc(Power). Doing so, should turn your AC on.

Humidifier

Modifications to the Humidifier

In order to have the humidifier work effectively with the nest thermostat, we should drive the solenoid only. We will not need the flow check switch or the on furnace mounted humidistat.

Remove wire from furnace mounted thermostat.

Remove the wire to the furnace mount thermistat at the solenoid controller.

Remove the cap to the controller and cut the wires for the flow check switch and marret the connections together. The other 2 wires go to the solenoid valve.

The end result should be resemble the following:

Wiring the Humidifier

In my zone control cabinet, I connected both *(HUM) wires from the thermostats to the HOT line of the humidifier.
